Dog obedience classes to be offered

Dog Obedience Classes, sponsored by the Peterborough Recreation Department, are scheduled for July and August with instructor Erica Marshall at the Community Center.

A Recall Focus Class will be held Tuesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning July 22 through Aug. 12. This four week class focuses solely on the foundation work of building a really reliable recall. Owners will learn the most effective and fun ways to ensure a greater response to their recall command. Bring the dog’s vaccination records with you to the first class. This class requires a minimum of four students to run. The class will be capped at eight dogs, which are five months and older. Participants must be at least 14 years old, with a parent present.

Public Manners 2 will be held Fridays, Aug. 1 through Aug. 22, 6 to 7 p.m. This four-week class works on polite manners. Handlers that would like to join this class must have had previous obedience training or have gone through Public Manners 1.
