To the editor:

Over the past five years, I have had the pleasure of knowing, and being represented by Senator Andy Sanborn. I don’t think I have ever had the pleasure of knowing someone in public service who is as responsive as he is. When I was previously a selectman of Sharon, I always found him genuinely interested in the needs of our town, despite its mere 300 or so souls. He even attended some of our Select Board meetings, and would repeatedly ask me if our town needed help with anything.

As a veteran, he made it possible for myself and others who served to get college credit for our time. My wife, who is a naturopathic physician, was particularly impressed by his efforts to support HB 351, which was a bill for insurance providers to cover alternative medicine, giving New Hampshire residents more choices in their health care.

When I first ran for selectman, I asked what the duties of my job entailed: a former selectman told me “to follow the law.” Andy Sanborn adheres to this principle by legislating in accordance to both the New Hampshire and U.S. Constitutions. He is an advocate of the law and spirit of these documents — concepts such as individual liberty, the right of self defense, freedom of speech, and being uninhibited in pursuing commerce. He is an advocate of ensuring the state doesn’t dampen the free market with burdensome regulations and red tape, recognizing the vitality that it brings to New Hampshire. He is a statesman in the tradition of the extensive and rich history of New Hampshire and will always do what he can to preserve “The New Hampshire Way.”

For these and so many other reasons, I endorse Andy Sanborn for the New Hampshire State Senate!
