Crash knocks out power

TEMPLE — A driver swerving to avoid hitting a deer crashed into a utility pole and temporarily knocked out power in Temple early Sunday evening.

At about 5:30 p.m., Renee Dunbeck, 27, of Lyndeborough was driving her Ford Taurus on Webster Highway when a deer jumped out into the road.

In her effort to avoid the animal, Dunbeck’s car left the road and hit a power line pole, according to Temple-Greenville Police Chief James McTague in an interview Monday.

Dunbeck, as well as her passenger, Dennis Slocomb of Lyndeborough, sustained only minor injuries as a result of the collision and were treated and released by emergency personnel at the scene. Dunbeck’s vehicle sustained front end damage, and was towed from the scene.

The impact with the pole caused a breaker to flip on the pole.

Public Service of New Hampshire responded to reset the breaker and restore power to the area.
