Sledding accident injures two
WILTON — An accident on a popular town sledding spot on Saturday led to two injured children, one of whom was transported to the hospital.
Two children sustained injuries after a sledding accident on Carnival Hill just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, according to Police Chief Brent Hautanen. Police and ambulance responded to the scene for reports of two people with possible facial lacerations or head injuries. The boy, aged 12, from Milford, was transported from the scene by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, according to Hautanen.
“Carnival is a pretty popular sledding hill,” said Hautanen. “Right now, the snow has gotten wet, became frozen and more like ice. It looks almost like a luge run – it wouldn’t take much to build speed.”
According to Wilton Ambulance Chief Gary Zippolo, the boy was injured at the bottom of the hill. He was transported with stable, non-life threatening injuries. A second, adult, patient with very minor injuries refused care at the scene.
