May 14th 2012 at 10:24:23 AM

TEMPLE -- A Wilton man was airlifted to a hospital after his truck went off General Miller Highway Sunday afternoon, rolling over and hitting a tree.

Temple-Greenville Police Sgt. Richard D’Auria said Christopher Greeley, 31, of Wilton was driving a 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup toward Temple center when he apparently went off the road, over-corrected and crashed into a tree near 332 General Miller Highway at about 4:15 p.m.

D’Auria said Temple Fire and Rescue personnel and a Wilton-Lyndebough-Temple ambulance crew went to the accident scene, along with Officer Michael Needham and Police Chief James McTague. Greeley was taken by ambulance to a landing zone and airlifted by helicopter to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.

Greeley suffered serious but apparently not life-threatening injuries in the accident, according to D’Auria.

Peterborough voters approved a $11.7 million operating budget by a substantial margin Tuesday, while rejecting two petition articles calling for election of Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment members.

Also going down to defeat were two petition articles sponsored by developer Craig Hicks. One called for adding retailing as a permitted use in the town’s Commerce Park District. The other sought to rezone a 7.85-acre lot that Hicks owns at the end of Mercer Avenue from Rural and Family District to Village Commercial District.

Voters approved a petition article to rezone land on Old Street Road that’s owned by Monadnock Community Hospital to become part of the Monadnock Community Healthcare District.

The election drew 990 voters, a 23 percent turnout.
