Yes, put drive-thru in my backyard

To the editor:

All right, all right. I confess. I like fast food restaurants — obviously I’m one of the few in Dublin. I like the taste of the food. I like that I can order a small burger for a small amount. Regular restaurants give you too much — you either eat too much or throw some away and it costs a lot. No, give me a junior cheeseburger deluxe or a MacChicken or a small chili. I like a small sub from Subway.

This is not to say I don’t want to do business with the local businesses. You sure can’t beat a cup of soup at Little Roy’s or sharing a sandwich with a friend at Nonie’s, but I always end up feeling like I don’t quite measure up in the eyes of those striving for quaint and to buy “only local” are concerned. Sometimes I can’t afford quaint and buying local.

So, if I like fast food, why should I say “Not in my backyard?” Why not ask the companies to make their restaurants and parking lots more pleasing to the eye and allow them in my backyard. Good idea from my point of view.

Oh, and by the way, T-Bird Minimart in Dublin would look so much better and be so much safer with a new building and a drive-through.
