Place to Go event was a success

To the editor:

There are so many people I’d like to thank for helping make The Place to Go’s 21st Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament such a big success. The tournament is one of our major fundraisers and helps keep our after school program, Kids Together, free.

The tournament and side events ran very smoothly, thanks to Sue and Dave Blanchette, Chris Goodwin, Mike Crowe, Jeff Boxer, Greg Kriebel, Linda Guyette, Kathy Mottau, and Becky Lambert. A huge thank you to Kevin Chapman, our head referee, who not only volunteered his entire weekend, but recruited other refs from around the state to help out as well: Bob Alpren, Nick Hill, Tom Newbury, Trent Hunt, Jim Wilkinson, Doug Booth, Griffin Werth, Isaac Bacon and Mark Bruda.

A highlight of the tournament has come to be the American Steel Half Court Shot Contest. American Steel donates $100 to The Place to Go, for each of the first five successful shots. We had 11 successful shooters this year!

Thanks to the donors of our wonderful raffle prizes, as well. We had box seats for 12 at a Monarchs’ game, a kayak donated by Old Town Canoes & Kayaks, an inflatable raft donated by Mike Crowe, and a basket of goodies donated by Salon 2000 in Amherst.

Our very generous sponsors are a major reason for the financial success of the tournament. Some of them have been with us all 21 years. Our big sponsors, each of whom had a court named after them, were RBC Wealth Management, Pinney Plumbing & Heating, AW Peters, GFA Federal Credit Union, and The Mackesy Family.

In addition, thanks to this years sponsors: Belletetes, Inc, Bowling Acres Grill, Brady’s American Grill, Builders Installed Products of NH, Crowe Fence & Deck Supply, Edward Mottau, Carpenter, Inc, Peter Michael Abbott Memorial Fund, Gap Mountain Drilling, Grappelli’s Pizza Co, Hampsey & Grenier Associates, Hanson Construction Co, InfoGroup/Direct Media Millard, Lisa H. Sullivan/Geiger Promotional Products, Magnificent Kids, Manhattan East Hair Design Studio, ManufacturingStories.com, Michael Blanchette, Builder, Monadnock Auto Glass, NHBB, Peterborough Agway, Peterborough Pizza Barn, Peterborough Recreation Department, Roy’s Market, Savron Graphics, SWC Foundation, Stephen Record Trust, Self Storage of Peterborough & Jaffrey, Steele’s Stationers, The Right Connection, Time Frame, @Website Publicity, Inc, Wireless Zone, Wright Painting.

Thanks to everyone for helping us keep the after school program free for the kids.
