Personnel matter conducted poorly

To the editor:

Recently I started going to the School Board meetings to get some clarification of when Mrs. Jenifer Krook would get her opportunity to have her side of the story told. As you know, the superintendent put her on administrative leave with pay last November.

It was originally a personality conflict and within a week it became a financial investigation. From November 2013 to April 2014 Mrs. Krook received no communication from the superintendent or the School Board. In April, Mrs. Krook received a non-renewal letter for her position as the director of financial services, effective June 30, 2014. Once again, the board has refused to tell Mrs. Krook why they have allowed this to occur.

A personnel investigation takes time to hear both sides of the issue. Why has the board only heard one side after seven months? Do they feel that because they hired the superintendent they should only listen to her?

In closing, it appears a real injustice has been done to Mrs. Krook and other Mascenic employees. The board has chosen to support their superintendent, regarding personal and other critical issues.

If this is just a power grab by the superintendent, it could potentially cost this district thousands of dollars. It is time the board reviews these sole decisions that have been made.

Every person deserves to be treated fair and just. In the spirit of human decency we must insist on it.
