Our thanks to Scouts, chamber

To the editor:

Thank you Rindge Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scouts, Troop 308.

On July 2, our celebration of Independence Day, on a late afternoon where we had weather just short of a hurricane, it was amazing to see all the dedicated workers, from volunteers to organizations of helpers, members, groups and vendors, hold strong throughout the day.

To stay somewhat dry and away from the lightening, we all gathered together in the Meeting House hall, and though it may have been said, here and there, “this is awful, cancel this and/or what a disappointment,” the thought was completely washed away as the Rindge Boy Scouts, Troop 308, led by Mr. Mike Miller, Scout master, took to the front of the stage and one by one recited “The Declaration of Independence.”

Children, adults, workers, chamber members and our police and firefighters stood in silence, as we listened to these Scout members stand tall and speak of our great nation. You could have heard a pin drop, in between the rolling thunder over us.

That certainly made our day all around and we didn’t much care what the weather was throwing our way. Our thanks to all and especially to Troop 308, that we were able to witness such a glorious moment of freedom.

Roniele and Robert Hamilton

Rindge
