Letter: Sign about gas prices is misleading

To the editor:

The person who placed a small white sign on a tree on 101 West, which states the price of gas during Bush’s tenure at $1.83 per gallon, is either misinformed or ignoring the truth.

You see, I tracked my gasoline purchases and between 2002 (when I bought my car) and 2008 (when Bush was still president), gasoline prices went from $1.44 per gallon on Aug., 1, 2002, all the way up to $3.10 on Oct. 3, 2005, and even higher to $4.10 on July 23, 2008.

Perhaps the sign owner should do more research before making such a blatantly misleading claim, or fess up to knowing the truth; presidents have no influence on the price of gasoline sold in the United States.
