Letter: Town officials were well prepared
To the editor:
The clarity, harmonious flow, and sharing of useful information at last Saturday’s Town Meeting showed how well Temple’s town officials were prepared. It was a great example of why Town Meeting is so important as the major, annual community forum and opportunity to keep in touch with officials and their accomplishments. Thank you everyone who contributed to this valuable meeting. A few, stand-out examples follow.
Selectman Tedd Petro, who is retiring from the Board this year, was elected in 2003, my last year on the Board. I am grateful for Tedd’s enthusiasm, diligence, and caring for Temple’s governance and service through nine years.
Road Agent Tim Fiske’s steady, calm dedication to the wise management of our roads was underscored this year by the major State Bridge Aid he has secured for the town. Chief McTague’s efforts to keep costs low and services high were apparent in his clear description of the needs for a new police cruiser and equipment. As a foresightful citizen, Ken Sullivan shared his research on the importance of building an optical fiber infrastructure and authorizing the Select Board to investigate this.
Many thanks to you four and all of Temple’s officials and volunteers.
