Family an example of what’s possible
To the editor:
Thanks to the Ledger-Transcript for highlighting the importance of volunteers to our area’s non-profits – and the soul-satisfying rewards for the volunteers themselves.
I was especially pleased that one of your articles focused on the valuable contributions of Tina Kriebel. Tina and her pediatrician husband, Greg Kriebel, are inspiring exemplars of volunteering in support of children, families, and our local community.
Tina not only writes successful grant applications for the River Center, she also provides leadership and countless hours of service to the town’s Recreation Department and serves as a Director of the 1833 Society that is helping to plan for an updated Peterborough Town Library.
When I was principal of Peterborough Elementary School (PES), we were all exceptionally grateful for Tina’s contributions as an engaging classroom volunteer and as an active contributing member and officer of the Parent-Teachers Organization. When it became clear that students needed safer and more interactive play structures at recess, Tina became a key leader in the fund-raising, design, and actual construction of a new PES playground that years later children continue to enjoy.
Tina also provided leadership in helping to promote healthier eating and a more active lifestyle among Peterborough’s children and families. Most mornings, Tina, Greg, and their sons Zach and Ben would together walk the two miles to school, arriving at PES full of laughter and good cheer. That love of family and zest for living are consistently evident in everything the Kriebels do in and for our community.
