Board doesn’t speak for us all

To the editor:

This is in regards to your July 25 story titled “Town says refund should go to voters.”

Would you be so kind as to clarify your headlines? For the second time in the not too distant past, a headline has appeared that would indicate that “Temple” is represented by comments made at a Select Board meeting.

Yes, they are our elected officials, and they certainly can and should discuss all issues and challenges, but their discussions and opinions should be represented as their own, not “Temple” in its entirety. We, the voters, are more than capable of speaking for ourselves. Please stop villainizing Temple as being uncooperative and contrary, and recognize that the voices of a few do not necessarily represent the opinions of the masses.

A more appropriate and truthful headline would have been “Temple Select Board says refund should go to voters.” Let us speak for ourselves, and please stop using your paper as a forum for promoting discontent. We are part of the ConVal community, too, and these headlines feel a little bit like bullying.
