Voters make the process work
To the editor:
I appreciated Tom Welden’s recent Letter to the Editor regarding the ConVal budget and particularly his comments about attendance at the Deliberative Session. At this year’s session, there was a greater turnout than usual, but not enough to be truly representative of the district’s population.
He mentioned that pre-SB2, the District Meeting could attract 1,000 voters. This started me thinking that this should be a goal for attendance at next year’s ConVal Deliberative Session. Democracy is a participant sport and the more people who participate, the better it works. I plan on bringing the subject up at the next SAC Meeting to discuss the possibility of achieving this goal.
