Fresh Air Fund  offers memories

To the editor:

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, approximately 80 Fresh Air children had unforgettable summer experiences in the Manchester, Nashua and Monadnock region. Vicki Moore of Keene coordinated an evening for Fresh Air children at the Keene Swampbats. Mark Mulcahy of Manchester brought a group to visit Gov. Hassan at the Statehouse in Concord.

Countless other volunteers took children swimming on hot summer days, taught them to ride bicycles, went boating, and exposed them to many of the pleasures of the outdoors. Thanks to everyone who opened their hearts and homes to inner city children this summer.

The Peterborough community continued its long tradition of offering many discounts to our visitors. Thanks to Ava Marie’s, Friendly Farm, Kimball Farms, Mariposa Museum, Peterborough Art Academy, Peterborough Community Theatre, Peterborough Players, and the Toadstool Bookshop for their generosity. Special thanks to Tammy Grenier for coordinating these donations.

Please visit us on Facebook at “Fresh Air Fund of the Monadnock and Merrimack River Region,” or www.freshair.org if you would like information about hosting a child for the summer of 2014. You will find the names of local volunteers and their contact information.
