An instrument for global aid

To the editor:

A special thank you goes out to all those who gathered at the Mariposa Museum on Dec. 7 for a fundraiser to benefit disaster relief in the Philippines. It was a memorable evening for guests and performers alike.

Of particular note are drummers Namory Keita, Loa Keita, Ult Mundane, Shana Brautigam, Hallel Parsons, and Audrey Garretson, along with special guest Abou Sylla on Ballafon. In addition, Master Balafonist Abou Sylla has graciously offered a beautiful, handcrafted balafon for Silent Auction to benefit disaster relief in the Philippines.

Built by Abou himself, this one of a kind professional quality instrument is a true work of art. The balafon will be on view in the lobby of the Mariposa Museum through the holidays. (Also note that during this auction donations may continue to be made to Philippine Disaster Relief.) Opening bid is $250. All proceeds to go to Kids International Ministries.
