ConVal falls to Berlin

The ConVal boys hockey team was ousted in the first round of the playoffs, losing 10-1 to top-seeded Berlin on Saturday. ConVal’s lone goal was scored by Erik Leger, assisted by Carl Svensson.

“It was not how we wanted it to end,” said coach Mark Leger, “but Berlin was a bit too much for us that day.”

Despite the early playoff exit, the season was a successful one. “The boys showed no quit all season, no matter how big the deficit,” Leger said. Opposing coaches noticed the Cougars unwillingness to give in and applauded the effort, according to Leger.

“They didn’t want the season to come to an end. That says a lot about a hockey team, because the season is so long, wanting to keep playing shows how much fun the boys were having,” said Leger.

Having earned the opportunity to play in the postseason, the Cougars represented the region well. The postseason experience will prove valuable in years the coming years.

“I couldn’t ask for a better group of boys, and I cannot wait to see what we can do next year,” said Leger.
