CV heads to third straight Final Four

The fourteenth seed ConVal girls softball team is headed to the final four for the third straight season. The Cougars began their playoff run on Thursday, June 4, defeating number three seed Souhegan 8-6. Senior ace Courtney Fisher had seven strikeouts while teammates Sasha Brock (1-3 with two walks and two runs), Taylor Guay (2-3 with two runs), and Emmasae Hallen (3-4) did the heavy lifting for the Cougars offensively.

The Cougars then moved on to the quarterfinals, traveling up to sixth seeded Plymouth on Saturday and earning a 2-0 victory. In order to return to the championship round, the Cougars will have to knock off seventh seed John Stark.

ConVal faced John Stark mid season, losing by 13, but if any group of girls has the experience to pull off a third straight postseason upset, its the Cougars. The semi-final match up between ConVal and John Stark is scheduled for Wednesday at 5pm at Southern New Hampshire University.

Dylan Fisher can be reached at 924-7172 ext. 235, or dfisher@ledgertranscript.com.
