3 seniors cap careers as all-stars
The high school basketball careers of Conant seniors Devin Springfield and Teresa DiTommaso and Mascenic senior Erin Scollans came to a close on Saturday at the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star games.
Springfield, the Division III Player of the Year, led all scorers with 20 points in the D-III boys’ match-up with Division IV, but it was not enough as the D-IV seniors won 96-80.
Springfield, who started, shot 7-for-12 from the floor, including 1-of-4 from three-point range, to go along with five rebounds and two steals. He also went 5-for-6 on free throws.
Scollans also got the start for the D-III girls and finished with four points and two rebounds. She was 1-of-3 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the free throw line. DiTommaso logged 11 minutes and collected two offensive rebounds and a steal, while missing both of her shots.
The Division III girls, coached by Conant coach Nick Hill, defeated the D-IV girls 68-55. It was Hill’s third appearance as the D-III senior all-star coach. Conant coach Eric Saucier, who won his third career state title this season, coached the D-III boys for the third time.
The trio of players all helped their teams make the playoffs with Springfield’s Orioles winning the Division III championship and DiTommaso’s team advancing to the semifinals.
Springfield was a first-team all state selection, while DiTommaso and Scollans both landed on the D-III girls honorable mention squad.
