NE Ravens capture Bobcat Classic title
The New England Ravens 14 and under AAU baseball team won the Bobcat Classic in Manchester on April 14.
The Ravens were a perfect 3-0 in pool play in the eight-team, two-day tournament and went on to defeat the NH Black Flies 7-1 in the championship game. The Ravens outscored their opponents 30-8.
The Ravens began the tournament on Saturday with a narrow 7-6 victory over the host NH Bobcats. In game two, Danny Allen drove in a pair of runs in the fifth and added a home run in the seventh, as Darius Flowers allowed just one hit and struck out 12 in a complete-game 6-1 victory.
It was all Ravens in the third game, defeating Dover 10-0, including a leadoff home run from Kyle Dupuis.
In the title contest, the Ravens jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and never looked back. Allen added a two-run double in the second and JP Record went 2-3, while Sam Cooper got the win with six innings of two-hit ball.
On Sunday, the Ravens won a doubleheader at the Cape Cod Buccaneers, 7-2 and 5-0. The Ravens are 10-0 entering Saturday’s divisional opener at FPU against Shrewsbury, Mass. The doubleheader begins at 6 p.m.
