Cougars sweep doubles to defeat Souhegan 6-3

The ConVal girls tennis team improved to 3-1 on Monday with a 6-3 victory over Souhegan.

The match was tied three wins apiece after singles play, but the Cougars rallied to win all three pairings, including two in tiebreakers.

No. 1 Caroline Trowbridge won 8-5 and then teamed with Chloe Kipka to pull off a 9-8 (7-3) win at No. 1 doubles.

No. 3 Chloe Tournier won 8-2 and Ashlynn Wing, playing in the fourth position, won 8-5. The ConVal No. 3 and No. 4 players combined for an 8-3 victory in doubles.

Despite loses in the final two singles positions, McKenzie West and Sabina Pieterse came together for the No. 3 doubles match and captured a narrow 9-8 (9-7) victory.

ConVal traveled to Oyster River on Wednesday and will play its second match against Souhegan next Wednesday.
