ConVal takes 3rd at Sanborn
The ConVal boys and girls track and field teams each took third at a five-team meet at Sanborn on Tuesday.
The boys finished with 64 points, while the girls accumulated 51.5.
ConVal junior Corey Barrett finished in a first-place tie in the 100 meters with a time of 11.58 seconds and followed that up by taking second in the 200 meters in 24.19.
Junior Selina Baldwin won the girls discus with a throw of 84 feet, three inches and junior Coty Cadorette was victorious in the shot put, throwing for season-best 44 feet, 5.5 inches. Lara Matthias was another winner for the Cougars, taking the girls 400 in 1:04.16. Teresa Moran was third and Sarah Hurley fifth in the 400.
Haley Zanga tied for second in the long jump and finished third in the 100-meter hurdles.
Senior Nawyn Meas placed second in the discus, 116 feet, four inches, while Joseph Bernstein ran to a runner-up finish in the 3,200.
Andrew Hunt was third in the 800, 2:24.56, and fifth in the 1,600 and Shannon Glidden placed third in the girls 1,600, 6:03.53, and fourth in the 800. Duke Ammon had three top six finishes in the jumping events, with his best finish of second in the high jump.
Megan Foley was fourth in the 100 meters and the 100 hurdles. Daniel Kashulines took sixth in the 200 and 400 and Dalton Coyne placed sixth in the 800.
Ally Boyd finished fourth in the girls shot put and sixth in the long jump.
Both 4 x 400 relay teams placed second.
ConVal will next compete at Hollis/Brookline on May 14.
