Peterborough Royals defeat Nationals for Cal Ripken Majors title
The Peterborough Royals won the 2013 ConVal Cal Ripken Majors championship with a 7-4 victory over the Peterborough Nationals on Thursday. The Royals led 4-2 entering the fifth before hits from the Nationals’ Finn Wegmueller and Brendan Magee tied the score at four. In the bottom of the fifth, consecutive one out doubles by Tim Burgess, Eli Jaynes, and Casey Burgess gave the Royals a two-run lead they would not give up. The Nationals Ben Garfinkle recorded five strikeouts over three innings. Burgess and Jaynes both went 3-for-3 with two doubles each and scored five of the Royals seven runs.
