Cougars fall to Trinity 3-1 in girls volleyball
ConVal’s girls volleyball team suffered a tough loss at home against Trinity Friday night.
Trinity won the match 3-1, but every single game was extremely close. (19-25, 24-26, 25-22, 24-26.) The final game came down to a series of long volleys, but ConVal ultimately came up short.
ConVal’s standouts included Jasmine Long (seven kills, four aces), Sara Clemens (4 kills, 25 assists) and Bryanna Lindsay (25 digs, 15 service receptions). ConVal is now 8-4 on the season; they travel to 8-4 Mascenic Friday night at 6 p.m.
∎ The Conant girls field hockey team played their Senior Night game against John Stark Friday. The Orioles won 3-1 on the strength of a big night by senior Jess Sorby, who scored two goals and assisted the third (scored by senior Kaleigh Johnson).
Conant (5-7) plays Sanborn (7-4-1) at home today at 4 p.m.
∎ ConVal’s girls soccer team lost 2-1 to an undefeated Portsmouth team Friday to fall to 5-7 on the season. Jordan Kania scored off an assist from Grace Bowman at the end of the first half for ConVal’s lone goal. ConVal hosts Conant tonight at 4 p.m.
∎ ConVal’s boys soccer team defeated Portsmouth Friday to bring their record up to 7-3-2.
Goals were scored by defenseman Stephen Twitchell and forward Austin Wheeler. The win brings ConVal to just one point behind the highly-touted Portsmouth team in the standings.
ConVal faces Conant (1-11) at Franklin Pierce University tonight.
∎ConVal’s field hockey team took on Hanover on Friday in what was billed as a “Pink Game.” With pink festooning the field, both teams (and the parents!) banded together to raise $162 towards breast cancer awareness.
The ladies were all business on the field, too; ConVal held Hanover to one goal on seven shots in the first half and one goal on four shots in the second, but the Cougars were blanked and ended up losing 2-0.
ConVal (1-9-1) travels to third-ranked Souhegan (10-2) today at 4 p.m.
∎ConVal’s cross-country team competed at the Pelham Invitational on Saturday. The girls team finished 4th out of ten teams behind Coe Brown, Souhegan and St Thomas Aquinas.

∎ Dublin School’s boys soccer team traveled to Epping last week to face Hyde School in a neutral site match. Dublin fought hard the entire game and kept the score tied 0-0 until the final moments of the second half, when Hyde was able to break the deadlock and follow it up with a quick second. Hyde won 2-0. Dublin’s Man of the Match was forward Harry Flores.
