Heather McKernan has been publisher of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript since 1995. She has a degree in writing from St. Lawrence University and an MBA and Master’s in journalism from Syracuse University. Responsible for all aspects of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript’s operations, she consults with the newsroom editors and oversees business operations including advertising, circulation and accounting. McKernan joined the Concord Monitor in 1989 as human resources manager and later became controller. Heather lives in Peterborough where she enjoys running and a variety of outdoor activities. She is active in several community organizations and is board president of the Family Center of Greater Peterborough.
Dave Anderson joined the Ledger in February 2004 as assistant editor and became an editor in August 2004. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, and has lived in the Monadnock region since 1975. Prior to joining the Ledger-Transcript, he worked in editing or production jobs for several magazine publishers, including BYTE/McGraw Hill and Helmers Publishing in Peterborough and PennWell Publishing in Nashua. Dave and his wife, Kathy, live in Hancock. They have three grown children.
A lifelong resident of Peterborough, editor Marcia Patten has been editing and reporting news in the region since 1973, when she began working for the Peterborough Transcript. In 1985, she moved to the Monadnock Ledger. She has won awards for photography, writing and design. Her interests include politics, reading and her family. Marcia and her husband, Roland, were married in 1962 and have two grown children, Christine and Michael, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Anna.
Steve Leone joined the Ledger-Transcript as editor in December 2008, after spending nearly a decade on the West Coast. He grew up in Rhode Island, graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island, and has worked for newspapers in Portland, Maine, Lynchburg, Va., and Santa Rosa, Calif. He lives in Peterborough with his wife and two kids.
Dave Eisenstadter covers arts, Rindge and the Jaffrey-Rindge School District. Raised in the Monadnock region, Dave returned after graduating from Bard College in 2005 with a degree in English and math. He performed freelance work for area publications and was hired by the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in 2007. When he is not at the paper, he can be found editing for Stemmer House Publishers in Gilsum, traveling to contra dances and working on his own writing projects.
Josh Bond joined the Ledger-Transcript in May of 2008 as a part-time reporter. He has since become a full-time reporter and provides photography and news coverage in the towns of Antrim, Bennington, Greenfield and Francestown as well as the ConVal School District. Josh grew up in Swanzey and is a graduate of Keene State College’s journalism program. He and his wife Lorri live in Peterborough with their daughter.
Lizz D’Entremont has been working as a reporter for the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript since 2007. In her position, Lizz is responsible for providing news coverage for Greenville, Mason and New Ipswich. In her spare time, Lizz likes to train for competitive powerlifting events. She currently holds several USA Powerlifting state records and one New England record for the bench press.
Meghan Pierce grew up in California, Australia and New York. Since joining
the staff of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in 2005 she has become an
award-winning writer and photographer, covering Peterborough and Sharon. The New Hampshire Better Newspaper Contest, in the category of weekly newspapers, awarded her third place for general news photo in 2006 and third place for spot news story, in 2007. Then in 2008 Pierce won first place for general news photo and was named writer of the year. Pierce lives in Peterborough with her daughter Eve.
Nick Martin joined the Ledger-Transcript staff in September 2008. He writes and photographs news and feature stories covering the towns of Lyndeborough, Temple and Wilton. Nick graduated from St. Michael's College in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication. In college he worked for the school's newspaper for
three years and interned at The Burlington Free Press. He has lived in southern New Hampshire since 1995.
Priscilla Miller, a resident of New Hampshire since 2001, worked for the Peterborough Transcript from March 2005 until its merger with the Monadnock Ledger in September 2006, when she joined the Ledger-Transcript staff. In addition to news from Jaffrey and Dublin, she reports on the business interests of the Monadnock region. The New Hampshire Press Association named her the 2007 Columnist of the Year in the serious category for a weekly newspaper in recognition of her column, “Single in a Small Town.” She holds a Master’s degree in history from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies from Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.
Tim Goodwin has been a sports reporter at the Ledger-Transcript since April of 2007. Hired in the fall of 2006, Tim spent time covering news before moving to sports full-time. A graduate of ConVal High School and Keene State College, he has a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in management. During the school year, he covers ConVal, Conant, Mascenic and Wilton-Lyndeborough athletic programs, writing game stories, profiles and features. In the fall of 2007, he created the Timmy Awards, an end of season feature highlighting the achievements of local high school athletes. He currently lives in Keene.
Carole Allen's lifelong passion has been photography. In 1973, she traveled around Europe where she discovered a love for people photography. She has been working in freelance photography for publications, private functions, and fine art photography since 1975. She moved to New Hampshire in 1979. She graduated with honors from Keene State College in 1996 with a bachelor of arts in photography, film and theater arts. She joined the Monadnock Ledger in 1998. She lives in Dublin.
Marilyn Weir has been on staff for almost five years. She assists the editors and manages the calendars. She is a professional photographer with her own business and has contributed photos to the newspaper and special publications. Her family has been in Peterborough for more than 40 years. She lives in town with her cat, Max, and cares for a small flock of sheep.
Robin Macrae Haubrich, a photo technician, processes the photo and graphic files for editorial and advertising content, and she coordinates with the editorial staff to create the content for Photo Finder. Robin has many years of experience in the publishing field, from graphic design to art direction.
Mandy Sliver was originally hired to work in the accounts receivable department of the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in April 2006, but it wasn’t long before she found her niche in the circulation department. Currently, she handles all matters related to mail subscriptions, the electronic edition, newsstand sales and customer service. She has a BS in Accounting from Plymouth State College and a wide range of experience in office management, business administration and customer service.
Al Struthers joined the advertising sales staff of the Monadnock Ledger in 1997. A native New Englander with family ties in the Nelson area, he lives in Peterborough with his wife, Karen. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Boston University and has been recognized for excellence in ad design by the N.H. Press Association. His hobbies include singing/songwriting and performing with the local music group Greengate.
Betsy Dillbeck has been in the newspaper business since 1967 in advertising sales, and as an editor, publisher and owner of various community newspapers. She returned to the Ledger-Transcript in her senior years, where she worked from 1985-87. She has 2 grown sons, 3 grandchildren and lives in New Ipswich with her 2 Golden Retrievers.
Cindy Cadot began working at the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in October 2006. She can be found in the reception office ready to assist the booking of a help wanted line or display ad, a service directory ad or a public notice. She has lived in Hancock since the early 1970s.
Clare Ellis McCarthy, ad design, works with the sales team and production staff to schedule, design, and layout the advertising materials for print and web. She brings over two decades of experience in the graphic design and printing fields to the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript.
When Heidi Bourgeois was 16 years old her dad, Joseph Kevit, started the Contoocook Valley Advertiser in Antrim, and the whole family was expected to contribute to get the weekly shopper out. In 2005, some 33 years later, she landed back at the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript for the second time. She has worked as an ad designer and a sales representative.
Jill Hacking, ad designer, works with sales and production staff. She's been in the newspaper and printing fields for 30 years. When she's not in the office, she can be found on a lake in her kayak.
Kim Galbraith joined the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in September 2006 as Production Coordinator after being employed with the Peterborough Transcript for almost nine years. With a career that began as a typesetter at the age of 17, it quickly grew to ad design and bookkeeping. Kim works closely with the sales team and the ad design department, with duties that include page layout, design and accounts receivable.
After a 14-year hiatus, Peg Dellinger returned to the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in December of 2007. Her previous experience at the Monadnock Ledger began in 1985 where she was in advertising sales for three years before stepping into the role of Advertising/Production Coordinator.
