A lifelong resident of Peterborough, editor Marcia Patten has been editing and reporting news in the region since 1973, when she began working for the Peterborough Transcript. In 1985, she moved to the Monadnock Ledger. She has won awards for photography, writing and design. Her interests include politics, reading and her family. Marcia and her husband, Roland, were married in 1962 and have two grown children, Christine and Michael, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Anna.

A generator heads to Haiti

NEW IPSWICH — A 40-foot shipping container that has been gracing the lawn of Community Christian Church for the past week will soon set sail for Port-au-Prince, Haiti, complete with a 4,000-pound, 75,000-watt, diesel generator that is being donated to a hospital.

Weight limit set on Main Street bridge

PETERBOROUGH — Selectmen approved a 15-ton weight limit on the Main Street Bridge Tuesday night, in a recommendation that could for up to two years impact downtown deliveries and the Fire Department, but is not expected to disrupt ConVal School District bus schedules.
