William Simard of ConVal High School finished his cross-country season Saturday with a 23rd-place finish at the New England Interscholastic XC Championship at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn.

On Nov. 2, he finished third at the Meet of Champions, and first among Division II runners, in the Meet of Champions at Alvirne High School in Hudson. This came on the heels of him winning the state Division II boys’ 5,000-meter cross-country championship.

“William had a great season and this was a wonderful way for him to cap it off,” coach Spencer Fetrow stated.

Mascenic’s Erin O'Shea also qualified for the New England Championships, finishing 46th in the girls’ race after placing 18th in the Meet of Champions.

Other local girls’ Meet of Champions participants were Kaitlin O’Shea of Mascenic (26th) and Whitney Adair of ConVal (65th). Along with Simard, boys in the Meet of Champions were Dylan Callahan of Mascenic (104th).
