‘Messiah’ at First Church

The First Church in Jaffrey, the red brick Congregational/UCC church next to the Meetinghouse in Jaffrey Center, welcomes all persons to celebrate Easter Sunday at 10:30 a.m. April 16 with a special service featuring an instrumental quintet and choir performing selections from Handel’s Messiah and Judas Maccabeus.

The service, by the Rev. Robin Lunn, will celebrate the fruits of the Lenten journey, and the wonder and mystery of the ancient Easter story of transformation. The 1831 church building is a favorite for musicians because of its excellent acoustics.  The guest musicians are Aurora Crane-Pearson, violin; Candace Wharton, violin; Russell Gebhart, viola; Richard Wharton, cello; and Eve Kodiak, piano. Minister of Music Gene Faxon will conduct the First Church Choir and members of the Monadnock Chorus.

The church is off Rte.124 at Laban Ainsworth Way, two miles west of the downtown intersection of Rtes. 202, 124 and 137.
