AntrimGrapevine receives donation

After hearing presentations from three randomly selected nonprofits, the 6o women in attendance at the 100+ Women Who Care Monadnock April 18 meeting at Peterborough Town Library voted to award its donations this quarter to the Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center, located in Antrim.

Grapevine Director of Teen Programs Jacqueline Roland and Ryan Whitney, a junior at ConVal and intern with the program, spoke about the importance of the setting and activities provided by Avenue A Teen and Community Center. Over 100 youths from 16 towns currently attend. The center partners with rural teens ages 10-19 “to build resilience, navigate challenging circumstances and develop young leaders.”

According to the presenters, if middle-schoolers attend the program, they are more likely to attend in high school as well, “giving them eight years of support, mentorship, social development and community connections.”

Each quarter, members of 100+ Women Who Care Monadnock select a nonprofit to receive their collective donations of more than $10,000. The nonprofit must serve at least one of the following towns: Antrim, Bennington, Dublin, Francestown, Greenfield, Hancock, Harrisville, Jaffrey, Nelson, New Ipswich, Peterborough, Rindge, Sharon, Temple and Wilton. Members come from all those towns and beyond. For information on the group, find them on Facebook or 100womenwhocaremonadnock.com.
