The Hancock Town Library will host โ€œWritersโ€™ Day Camp with Poet Charles Coeโ€ on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 25 Main St.

Writers of all experience levels are invited to join Coe, a poet, writer and teacher, for a daylong creative writing workshop featuring writing prompts, exercises, and discussions designed to deepen participantsโ€™ understanding of the craft. The workshop is open to poets and prose writers, whether just beginning or looking to refine their work.

Participants should bring their own lunch or plan to visit nearby options during the break.

Coe is the author of five collections of poetry: “All Sins Forgiven: Poems for My Parents,” “Picnic on the Moon,” “Memento Mori,” “Purgatory Road,” and “Charles Coe: New and Selected Works.” He also wrote “Spin Cycles,” a novella about a homeless man in Boston.

His honors include fellowships and awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the St. Botolph Club, the Boston Authors Club, the Tanne Foundation, and the Associates of the Boston Public Library. Coe was Bostonโ€™s artist-in-residence in 2018 and currently serves as an adjunct professor of English at Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., where he teaches in the Master of Fine Arts writing program.

This free workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Hancock Town Library. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, call 603-525-4411 or email hancocklibrary@comcast.net.
