Gary L. Williams

Hancock, NH – Gary L. Williams, 70, of Hancock passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on January 29, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Waltham, MA, on January 11, 1956, the son of Leon and Lorraine (Nelson) Williams, Gary was a gentle soul who had an undeniable love for his family and for life.

While attending Boston University, he spent time teaching at Sargent Camp in Hancock, which is where he met the love of his life, Lisa. After living and exploring out West, Gary and Lisa eventually settled in Hancock where, together with the help of friends and family, they built their home and raised their family.

Their life together was full of adventure and love. Gary’s summers were filled with Tuesday night golf, camping all around New England, and clamming at the family summer home in Five Islands, Maine, where he was the resident lobster chef. Winters were equally active, spending time in the woods around his home hunting and getting out on the snowmobile trails. By day, Gary was a talented self-employed builder and craftsman, leaving his fingerprints on many local homes. During the evenings, if he was not outside playing fetch with his dog or working on his home, Gary could be found cheering on all of the Boston sports teams.

In addition to his wife Lisa (Joseph) Williams, he is survived by his three children, Jason Williams and wife Kristi (Sweet) Williams of North Grafton, MA; Hannah (Williams) Johnston and husband David Johnston, of Peterborough, NH; and Alexandra (Williams) Desrosiers and husband Collin Desrosiers of Hancock, NH; five grandchildren – Mackenzie and Hailey Williams, Ronan and Fiadh Johnston, and Crew Desrosiers; his brother David Williams and wife Barbara (Combs) Williams of Antrim, NH; and many siblings-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be announced in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to Monadnock Adult Care Center in Jaffrey, or Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services (HCS) Keene, NH.
