The Park Theatre has received $73,000 in grants toward a $156,000 campaign to install a solar power system. Funding was awarded by The Putnam Foundation, Madelaine G. von Weber Trust, McIninch Foundation and Bar Harbor Bank and Trust. ReVision Energy has been selected as the solar contractor.
“We were mindful of environmental impact in developing the property, building to LEED standards and engineering the roof to support solar. We had to defer on solar at the time of construction due to cost, and we’re determined to see it through now,” said Steve Jackson, CEO and managing director of the theatre in Jaffrey.
The solar panel array is projected to offset more than half of the theatre’s electrical use. Donations may be made at parksolar.org.
