The ConVal Silverbacks youth wrestling program delivered an outstanding performance at the New Hampshire State Championships on March 1 at Bedford High School, with five athletes earning top finishes and qualifying for the New England Championships scheduled for March 14 and 15 in Massachusetts.

The tournament featured 465 wrestlers competing across multiple age divisions.

Leading the way was Everett Longley, who captured the state championship in the U12 195-pound division with three pins to secure the gold medal. Remington Hotchkin finished second in the U12 63-pound class after battling his way to the finals, while Locke Olesky placed second out of 23 wrestlers in the U15 169-pound division.

Milo Ferrisi earned sixth place in the U15 106-pound division, advancing through a bracket of more than 20 competitors, and Hunter Mao placed third in the U8 52-pound division with four wins.

All five wrestlers qualified to compete at the New England Championships.

The Silverbacks brought 11 wrestlers to the state tournament, many competing in their first season. The U12 squad finished 13th out of 31 teams despite entering only four wrestlers, while the U15 team placed 21st out of 33 teams.

The tournament also featured several strong individual performances. Charles Going and Jackson Munroe each recorded two pins during the competition, while Logan Curtis, Lucian Frosch, and Ronan Johnston each earned wins in their brackets. Matthew Gonzalez, competing in his first year of wrestling, also battled through the state tournament against experienced opponents.

Younger Silverbacks wrestlers also gained valuable experience at the state level earlier in the season. In the 8U division, Hunter Mao earned a third-place finish with four wins, securing his place at the New England Wrestling Tournament.

In the 10U division, Fiadh competed in her second year of wrestling and first state tournament appearance, while Easton Cote and Elexi Cote, both in their first season, faced challenging brackets that included eventual finalists in their weight classes.

Notably, three of the state qualifiers โ€” Everett Longley, Locke Olesky, and Remington Hotchkin โ€” are also members of the ConVal Middle School football team.
