New Hampshire Fish and Game reminds bobhouse owners that state law requires all bobhouses, also known as ice shanties, to be removed from the ice by the end of the day April 1.
The department said changing weather conditions and ice thickness may require removal before the deadline. It also urged people to monitor ice thickness and take safety precautions when removing bobhouses from frozen lakes and ponds.
After bobhouses are moved to shore, they must be relocated to the ownerโs property. Leaving them on public or private property without permission violates state law.
Violations can bring fines, a one-year loss of fishing privileges and seizure of the bobhouse and its contents. For information, call (603) 271-3127.
