Nutrition and cooking classes focused on plant-based diets will be offered this spring in Jaffrey through the Jaffrey Civic Center and Jaffrey Parks and Recreation Department as part of the Food for Life program.

Classes include โ€œTackling Menopauseโ€ on April 15, โ€œFoods for a Healthy Heartโ€ on May 2, and โ€œKickstart Your Health,โ€ a five-week series beginning May 9. Each two-hour session features a lecture, discussion, cooking demonstrations and food sampling. Participants receive materials from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Instructor Nora E. Hanke, a physician and licensed Food for Life instructor, will lead all sessions.

The menopause class focuses on managing hormone-related conditions. The heart class covers plant-based nutrition for cardiovascular health. Discounts for the five-week program are available for participants receiving public assistance. Registration is requested two days in advance.
