Nutrition and cooking classes focused on plant-based diets will be offered this spring in Jaffrey through the Jaffrey Civic Center and Jaffrey Parks and Recreation Department as part of the Food for Life program.
Classes include โTackling Menopauseโ on April 15, โFoods for a Healthy Heartโ on May 2, and โKickstart Your Health,โ a five-week series beginning May 9. Each two-hour session features a lecture, discussion, cooking demonstrations and food sampling. Participants receive materials from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
Instructor Nora E. Hanke, a physician and licensed Food for Life instructor, will lead all sessions.
The menopause class focuses on managing hormone-related conditions. The heart class covers plant-based nutrition for cardiovascular health. Discounts for the five-week program are available for participants receiving public assistance. Registration is requested two days in advance.
