Malvenn, a Montreal-based Balfolk trio featuring harp, cello and clarinet, will perform at the Wilton Folk Café Coffeehouse on Friday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilton Collaborative Space, 21 Gregg Street, in the 2nd Congregational Church Hall in Wilton.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Wilton Public Library. Reservations are strongly recommended by emailing strumma@aol.com or calling Sandy at (603) 654-1245.

The group performs original compositions and arrangements drawn from Breton, Irish and Québécois traditions.

Malvenn also will lead a 1 1/2-hour afternoon workshop for acoustic instruments covering dance tunes of central France, including bourrées in 2 and 3, mazurkas and other tunes. A simple tune will be taught along with arranging and bass lines. Workshop admission is $20, and advance registration is required at the same email and phone number.
