Pointing Fingers-Whose Voice?

What could be more ableist than subjecting someone to the physical control of one of their primary communicative means? This is the question that I must ask as I reflect on what I observed during the Park Theater’s April 19 prerelease screening of the movie “Pointing Fingers.” Prior to the screening and again during the Q&A follow-up, director Michael Bergmann held and controlled the device that the film’s screenwriter and star Dan Bergmann used to introduce the film and to respond to audience questions. In those instances in which the message was not preprogrammed into the device, Michael, not Dan through his device, provided the audio output. I am wondering if Dan would be open to sharing his thoughts with future audiences regarding this unusual, external control of his voice.
