A local student recently helped Plymouth State University earn a top finish at a national sales competition.

Ty Bacci, a finance major from Lyndeborough, was part of a four-student PSU team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Collegiate Sales Competition in Georgia, placing the university among the top 40 teams out of roughly 70 nationwide. The performance marks the second consecutive year PSU has reached the quarterfinal round against a field that includes many of the countryโ€™s largest universities.

One PSU competitor, Lauren Bartnicki of Manchester, advanced individually to the quarterfinals, finishing among the top 16 students in the nation after winning a wild card round.

The PSU team also included Jack Carrubba of Atkinson and Richard Powderly of Littleton, Mass. Students competing in the event spend months preparing and delivering a sales pitch for a corporate sponsor in a role-play format judged by industry professionals.

Assistant professor Rick Brenner, director of PSUโ€™s Sales Institute, praised the teamโ€™s continued success against top collegiate programs.

The National Collegiate Sales Competition, hosted by Kennesaw State University, is the largest and longest-running university sales competition in the world.
