Peterborough, NH – John Linke “Jack” Lewis, 81, of Peterborough, NH, passed away peacefully at Elliot Hospital in Manchester on May 8, 2026 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in New York City on August 13, 1944, Jack was the son of the late Ralph and Thelma Linke Lewis. He graduated from Briarcliff High School, Amherst College, and Harvard Business School, where he met his future wife, Mary Lisbeth “Mary Liz” Wachendorf Lewis. They married in February 1969.
Jack spent his career with Chemical Bank, later JP Morgan Chase Bank, retiring in 2001 as Senior Vice President. Jack and Mary Liz raised their family in Summit, NJ before moving to Dublin, NH in 2002 and Peterborough in 2019.
Jack volunteered at both Calvary Church in Summit and All Saints’ Church in Peterborough. In retirement, he served as treasurer of the Peterborough Players and the Dublin Riding and Walking Club and chaired the Dublin Conservation Commission.
Jack loved golf, swimming in Dublin Lake, bad puns, and helping others. He will be remembered for his warmth, friendliness, and generosity.
He is survived by wife, Mary Liz; daughters Sara Lewis Rall of Warren, NJ and Katherine Lewis (“Kate”) of Arlington, MA; grandchildren Carl, Molly, Becca, and Katie Rall; and sisters Barbara Lewis of Atlanta, GA and Virginia Lewis of Gainesville, FL.
A funeral service will be held at All Saints’ Church in Peterborough on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 am.
