The Monadnock Center for History and Culture will present โPortraits of a Revolution,โ a NH Humanities program, Saturday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free.
Art historian Inez McDermott will discuss what portraits from the revolutionary era reveal about American culture, including the ideas, values and virtues reflected in portraits of the founding fathers and mothers. She also will introduce art analysis and discuss the tradition of portraiture and influences on early American portraits.
McDermott has taught art history and curated art and history exhibitions in New Hampshire since 1986.
The program is supported by NH Humanities and the M&T Charitable Foundation and is part of the Monadnock Centerโs programs marking the nationโs 250th anniversary in 2026.
