Margaret Ann Moran

Bennington, NH – Longtime Bennington resident Margaret A. Moran passed away peacefully at home on 13 July 2026 after a brief illness. Born on 23 April 1948, to John H. and Elizabeth Verdonk, she was raised in Bangor, MI, where she attended local schools. She graduated from Marywood Academy High School in Grand Rapids, MI, in 1966, and was accepted to Saint Mary’s College in Kansas, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in a subject she loved, Music Education. She pursued a career in music education, teaching in South Haven, MI; Overland Park, KS; Prince William County, VA; and Jacksonville, NC, and for 18 years as a music teacher at Great Brook Middle School in Antrim, NH.

She traveled extensively, visiting numerous countries in Europe, and spent time in Okinawa, Japan while her husband was stationed there, enjoying the local culture and taking cooking lessons.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. She served as a Special Minister of the Eucharist at St. Patrick Church in Bennington.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bruce H. Moran; their daughter Heather M. Bird, Son-In-Law John D. Bird, granddaughter Emma F. Bird, grandson John H. Bird, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

It is requested that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital and St Jude Children’s Hospital, two of her favorite charities.
