A home on Ashburnham Road was damaged and four people suffered minor injuries in a crash at the intersection of Ashburnham Road and Perry Road on Sunday morning.
According to New Ipswich Police Chief Micheal Abel, at about 10:52 a.m. Sunday, a 2017 Dodge pickup truck driven by Elizabeth Rodenhiser of New Ipswich was traveling on Perry Road and failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Perry Road and Ashburnham Road.
At the same time, a 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Briauna Aho of New Ipswich was traveling south on Ashburnham Road. When Rodenhiser entered Ashburnham Road, the two vehicles collided, according to Abel.
Based on accident reconstruction, Rodenhiser’s vehicle accelerated after the initial collision and turned, crossing all the way back across Ashburnham Road and striking an unoccupied 2006 Chevrolet pickup that was parked in the driveway of 67 Ashburnham Road. The impact pushed the truck into the house, causing damage to the exterior trim of the house, the house’s electrical meter and the Chevrolet.
Eversource cut power to the house while the damage was assessed.
Rodenhiser was carrying two juvenile passengers at the time of the crash. All four occupants of the vehicles reported injuries, which Abel said were mainly secondary bruising or irritation from the vehicles’ airbags or seatbelts.
No charges or citations had been filed as of Tuesday morning, but police anticipate filing potential charges of failure to yield and negligent driving against Rodenhiser.
