Allan Gillis, executive director of the Community Volunteer Transportation Company, addressed members of the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club during a breakfast meeting at the Cathedral of the Pines on July 16.
Gillis highlighted the growing demand for free transportation to non-emergency medical appointments, social service meetings, and food shopping across 36 towns in the Monadnock region. The organization currently averages 450 rides per month using a network of 76 volunteer drivers.
During his talk, Gillis urged community members to sign up as volunteer drivers by contacting the organization through its website at cvtc-nh.org.
The Rotary Club is also preparing for its annual “Grill and Chill” fundraiser, which benefits more than 20 local organizations. The event, featuring food, music, and art, will take place Thursday, July 23, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Milliken Manor.
