The Wilton-Lyndeborough girls’ basketball team snapped their long winless streak Friday night by picking up their first victory in two seasons, beating Nute 42-30 in the regular-season finale.

“It is a great feeling to end this season on a high note,” said head coach Joy Burge after the game.

The Warriors had their sights set on beating Nute since their close loss earlier in the season.

“These girls worked their butts off since our last game against them,” Burge said.

Despite a matchup with Nute’s tallest, toughest player, Abby Leblanc scored a game-high 20 points in the win. Brooke Lane added nine.

WLC finishes the season at 1-17. It was their first victory since February of 2016 and snapped a 34-game losing streak.

Girls’ basketball

The ConVal girls got a reality check at Bishop Brady Friday night, as the Giants beat the Cougars 73-37.

Lindsey Carey scored a team-high 11; Rachyl Parslow had 10 and Emma Hixson 9.

Carey is the third-leading scorer in Division II this season at 18.2 ppg.

ConVal (7-10) hosts Milford (3-13) Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Cougars are on the playoff bubble as the 15-seed, with Souhegan also at 7-10 in the 16th and final spot, and Coe-Brown (6-10) and Timberlane (6-11) breathing down their necks. Beating Milford would clinch a playoff berth.

Boys’ basketball

Finally near full strength, the Wilton-Lyndeborough boys knocked off Nute 63-36 Friday.  Jake Levert scored 22 points with five threes; Neal Brennan had 11 points and Jack Schwab 9.

WLC (5-12) concludes the season at Sunapee (10-7) Thursday at 7 p.m.
