Andy's opens new show

Andy’s Summer Playhouse will present the world premiere of the hip hop musical “Samantha Rai and the Shogun of Fear” opening at the playhouse theater tonight, Aug. 11.

The show was written by award-winning playwright Qui Nguyen, with music and lyrics by Shane Rettig. Additional composition is provided by Duncan Pelletier and Adam Arnone, direction by Wyckham Avery, and musical direction by Duncan Pelletier and Adam Arnone.

What do you do when an inter-dimensional portal opens up under your bed? Team up with the young Samurai girl who comes through it from the Fear Realm to defeat the Disciples of Darkness, of course. Join Fen and Samantha on their Halloween night adventure to stop the Shogun of Fear from overtaking this world full of Self-Doubt and Anxiety.

Performances will be held Aug. 11-13 at 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 14 and 17 at 2 p.m.; Aug. 18 and 18 at 7:30 p.m.; and Aug. 20 at 4 p.m.

Some special events include Friday Theme Nights when kids can come dressed to the theme of the show for $5 admission; Saturday Alumni Night: all are welcome and alumni are encouraged to attend; and Wednesday Talk Back: an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of the cast, director, and designers of the show.

This show is suitable for all ages.
