An Antrim man has been indicted on six felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse images by the Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

James Calder, 53, of Antrim allegedly possessed six images that portrayed underage boys engaged in sexual acts. Each charge constitutes a Class S felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison.

In June, Antrim Police Chief Scott Lester told the Ledger-Transcript that police began investigating Calder after a resident reported Calder had allegedly broken into a secured building and taken two tablet computers.

The owner of the tablets told police he had confronted Calder, who had returned the tablet. When he inspected the tablet, the owner found it allegedly had video images of child pornography on it. The owner of the tablet reported the incident to police and turned over the tablet for investigation.

Calder, a registered sex offender, was also indicted on one charge of duty to report after allegedly changing his residence and not reporting it to the local authorities within five days. That charge is a Class B felony punishable by three-and-a-half to seven years in prison and a $4,000 fine.

An indictment is a formal accusation against an individual suspected of committing a crime. It is not an indication of guilt or innocence.
