Letter: Not everybody in Dublin

There is much to disagree with in Blake Anderson's biased article in the Jan. 23 edition of the Ledger-Transcript (“Small towns and public education”). However, we would like to focus on one particular part.
Anderson writes, "What do Dublin and Francestown want?" then goes on to explain that the goal is withdrawal from the Conval School District. We would like to make one thing abundantly clear – Dublin does not currently want to do anything of the kind. There has been no vote on this issue as of yet, and no decisions have been made beyond the Dublin Education Advisory Committee and the Select Board.
We've been voting in town elections for over 20 years, and not once have we seen Blake Anderson's name on the ballot for town spokesperson or decision-maker. So he shouldn't presume to speak for the residents of Dublin. The Select Board wants to withdraw. The members of the DEAC, almost all of whom don't even have children in the ConVal district, want to withdraw. But we, parents of students currently attending Conval High School, do not. Nor do other people in town that we've spoken to. And until the vote comes in at Town Meeting, one cannot assume that everyone else will, too.
