The Kingsnakes will be the featured performer at the First Friday Parish Hall Open Stage on Friday.
Each of the five band members, Mark Reynolds, Andy Chapman, Robert Wood, Richard Doherty and Tom Reynolds, sheds his name on stage and they are known as snakes – Blacksnake plays the licorice stick, Watersnake is on guitar, Dr. Slidewinder on bass and lap slide, Purple Ratsnake plays drums, and Brer Cottonmouth is on trombone and vocals.
The acoustic quintet performs blues, jazz, country swing, and popular music from the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s.
The evening will open with an open stage of local, regional and out-of-state musicians beginning at 7:30 p.m. Spoken word artists also are well received.
Anyone wanting to perform needs to sign up between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Each artist customarily plays two or three songs before and after the feature.
Performers also can email to jackkidmusic@gmail.com to sign up. The first three will be guaranteed slots. All others sign up in person.
House sound and a piano are available.
Admission is a $5 donation at the door.
Hot beverages and baked goods will be available to purchase.
