Ashley Rose Humphreys of Lyndeborough to compete at World University Games

Ashley Rose Humphreys of Lyndeborough will be competing in the 2023 Lake Placid FISU World University Games. Opening ceremonies will be on Jan. 12.

Humphreys will be competing in the super-G and alpine combined events at Whiteface Mountain.

“It’s an honor to be representing Team USA at the University Games and to compete on this international level. I’m very excited to meet athletes from around the world,” Humphreys stated.

The FISU University Games will host 50 countries and bring elite college athletes from around the globe to the same venue in Lake Placid, NY. Events include alpine skiing, snowboarding, hockey, figure skating, biathlon, ski jumping, curling, speed skating, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined.

At the end of last season, Humphreys secured her spot from podium results at the East-West FIS Downhill by placing first and second in downhill then second and fifth in the super-G.  Humphreys qualified to compete in the Toyota U.S. Alpine Championships and NorAms Cup Finals, where she placed 24th and 27th in downhill.  She also placed first at her final FIS GS event last season at Mount Sunapee.

Humphreys competed as a Division I college athlete for Colby-Sawyer College, where she was named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team and graduated in May 2022. Previous ski teams include Gould Academy, Franconia Ski Club at Cannon Mountain and Crotched Mountain, where she started racing at age 5.
