Letter: Joyce Craig for governor

Kelly Ayotte likes to say, “All of the above” when she is asked about what she will do for the people of New Hampshire if elected governor. She adds, however, that she would simply continue the policies of the current Republican administration. This means keeping New Hampshire last in the nation for support of public education, leaving cities and towns to cope with homelessness because the state did not address the affordable housing crisis for the past six years and then blamed mayors for homelessness and failing to address gun regulations, which leaves assault weapons available for anyone to buy.

Joyce Craig is clear about wanting to address all of these issues and she worked hard to tackle them as mayor of the state’s largest city, with little or no help from the state. During this period, Ayotte worked only on her own behalf, raking in over $2 million from corporations. Would these corporations expect anything of her if she were governor? History tells us yes. But there is more. Ayotte is supporting Donald Trump, the autocrat who, figuratively speaking, broke fact-checking machines across the country with his lies. Anyone who does not have the courage to denounce a pathological liar does not have the moral rectitude to be our governor. Trump and Ayotte. If it talks like a duck, it is a duck.

For all of the above reasons, Joyce Craig is by far the better choice for governor of New Hampshire
